Bollywood actress and producer, Anushka Sharma has announced that she and her husband, Virat Kohli welcomed their second child, Akaay on 15th February. They welcomed their first child in January 2021, when India was playing the historic Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. At that time, the former India skipper was missing three out of four Tests. This time around, he isn't playing in the home series against England.
Notably, ahead of the series, the Indian Cricket Board urged the fans not to invade the privacy of the two-time World Event winner for India. However, his former Royal Challengers Bangalore teammate, AB de Villiers claimed that Kohli's second child is on its way. However, the former South Africa skipper retracted on his statements, calling it a fake news.
“Let me just see what he said. I just want to at least give you a little bit of love. So I wrote to him 'Been wanting to check in with you for a while now biscuits. How are you?'. He said 'Just need to be with my family right now'. Then I said I am doing well.”
“Yes, his second child is on the way. Yes, it's family time and things are important to him. If you are not true and genuine to yourself, you lose track of what you are here for. I think most people's priority is family. You can't judge Virat for that. Yes, we miss him, but he has made the right decision," de Villiers added.
“Family comes first it’s the priority as I said on my YouTube channel,” de Villers told Dainik Bhaskar.
“I made a terrible mistake at the same time, sharing false information, which was not true at all.
“I think whatever’s best for Virat’s family comes first. No one knows what’s happening there, all I can do is wish him well. Whatever the reason for his break, I hope he can comeback stronger, better and fresh from this.”
Anushka Sharma confirms AB de Villiers was right
However, days after the former South Africa skipper retracting on his statement, Sharma confirmed that they have welcomed their second child.
"With abundant happiness and our hearts full of love. We are pleased to inform everyone that on 15th February, we welcomed our baby boy, Akaay and Vamika's little brother into this little brother!
"We seek you blessings and good wishes in this beautiful time in our lives. We request you to kindly respect our privacy at this time
