India U19 under the captaincy of Uday Saharan continued their dominance in the ongoing Men’s Under-19 World Cup 2024. The boys in blue registered a massive win by 214 runs against New Zealand U19 in the super-six match of Group 1 in the tournament. New Zealand skipper Oscar Jackson won the toss and asked the Indians to bat first.

Batting first, India U19 posted a good total of 295 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 50 overs. Star number 3 batter and in-form Musheer Khan scored a brilliant century in India’s favour, hitting 131 runs off 126 balls, with 13 fours and 3 sixes with the bat.

Besides Musheer, Adarsh Singh also played a half-century knock to score 52 runs, with 6 fours followed by Skipper Saharan’s 34 runs to take India’s total to 295 runs.

Mason Clarke picked 4 wickets for the Kiwis, alongside one wicket each picked by Ryan Tsourgas, Ewald Schreuder, Zac Cumming, and Oliver Tewatiya.

While defending the target, the Indian bowling attack led by star spinner Saumy Pandey completely outplayed the Kwi batters and bundled them out just at the score of 81 runs in 28.1 overs; eventually, India U19 won the match by a massive margin of 214 runs to register the fourth consecutive win in the ongoing U19 WC 2024.

"I have to keep continuing this form in the next matches" - Musheer Khan

Musheer Khan won the ‘Player of the Match award for his match-defining knock in India’s favour to win the match by 214 runs.

The 18-year-old also expressed his happiness during the post-match presentation as his elder brother Sarfaraz Khan got a maiden Test call-up just a day before his century in the U19 World Cup 2024.

“Want to thank the almighty. It's a good feeling to get century, a good feeling. Now, I have to keep continuing this form in the next matches. Centuries give confidence to the batter. It allows him to go forward confidently when the matches get tougher. This is a slower pitch and our bowlers have been bowling well,” he said during the post-match presentation.

“They are in good form and we are getting the results. Got a call from my brother (Sarfaraz Khan) that he got selected to the Indian Squad for the Second Test,” he added later.
